As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • Copyright form should be downloaded (Click here to download the Copyright Form), filled up and signed by all the authors and upload as a supplementary file within 10 days of submission and upload as supplemetary file.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS


Journal of Engineering Research is an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes papers in all fields of Engineering. The Journal publishes papers reporting original contributions to scientific knowledge. While submitting the manuscript, the Author(s) should clearly indicate his/her field of specialization. Research articles in a language other than English are NOT entertained.
 
No charges are required from the Authors to publish the articles.
 
Similarity with other documents (Plagiarism )should not exceed 20%.
 
ONLINE SUBMISSION
  1. Authors are required to fill up the entire author's name when they fill up the metadata to submit the paper.
  2. It is important to mention the correct corresponding author.
  3. References should be listed in the “References” section when the authors complete the submission process
  4. The copyright form should be downloaded (Click here to download the Copyright Form), filled up and signed by all the authors and upload as a supplementary file within two weeks of submission and upload as a supplementary file.
  5. Manuscript File size should be less than 2 MB and if the file size is exceeding, compress or split the document.
  6. The author has to upload a blind version (remove author details, affiliations, author contact information, etc.. ) of the manuscript too in pdf format at the time of submission.
  7. The author has to provide us with a list of 5 potential reviewers with their Name, Position, e-mail address, Institution, and phone number (Click here to download the Referee List Form). These reviewers should not be from the same country of the Authors. The JER has no obligation to contact these reviewers. Please upload the reviewer's details as a supplementary file along with the manuscript submission or email the list to jerkuwait@gmail.com, jer@ku.edu.kw.

COMMUNICATIONS

  1. Manuscripts and correspondence should be submitted as a word document.
  2. Authors are to supply E-mail addresses, fax and telephone numbers, and a list of 5 reviewers upon submission of manuscripts. (Click here to download the Referee List Form)

GENERAL

  1. Papers accepted for publication will be limited to a minimum of 10 pages and a maximum of 15 pages only including abstract, references, tables, and figures.
  2. Concise, well-thought-out and prepared papers adhering to the style of the Journal are likely to be published sooner than those in need of extensive editing and revision. The Journal will enforce its style on papers accepted for publication. It is the responsibility of authors to ensure adherence to guidelines outlined in these `Instructions to Authors'.
  3. Full instructions to authors are appended below. REFER TO THESE AND A RECENT ISSUE OF THE JOURNAL FOR DETAILED GUIDELINES.

PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPT

  1. A template for the manuscript submission can be downloaded from by clicking here PDF format and  Click here for .doc format.
  2. The main text should be single-column paginated, starting with the Title/Abstract page and ending with the References page(s). Page numbers should appear at the middle top of the pages.
  3. Manuscripts must be typewritten with double spacing and wide margins (25mm) at all sides. A font size of 12 points is required.
  4. Words to be printed in italics should appear as italics or be underlined in the manuscript.

REVESION OF MANUSCRIPT

  • The authors must respond to the Editor-in-Chief within 2 weeks of the receipt of the referee's reports.

TITLE/ABSTRACT/KEYWORDS

  1. The title page should contain the title of the paper, the names(s) of the author(s), their institutional address(es), and an abstract. Up to 5 keywords should be given below the abstract in alphabetical order and separated by semicolons.
  2. The title should be short, specific, and informative. Avoid long titles; a running title of no more than 75 characters is encouraged.
  3. The abstract, not exceeding 300 words, should be independent of the text. It must not contain bibliographical references or references to figures. Avoid abbreviations in abstracts.
  4. Only the first word of the title must be capitalized and the remaining words must be in lowercase.
  5. Use * (stars) to denote the affiliations of authors instead of numbers or alphabets. For more clarification please refer to our previously published items.

TEXT HEADINGS

  • The main text should follow the abstract and conform with the current style of the Journal. The following hierarchy for headings should be used: AREA (bold capitals, centered) Sector (bold, capital first letter, centered) Zone (italics, capital first letter, un-indented) Block (italics, capital first letter, indented) No numbers or Roman numerals should be used in these headings.

FIGURES

  1. All illustrations are called Figures and should be referred to as `Figure'. Figure parts are referenced as Fig. 1(a) or (Fig. 1a).
  2. Figures should be numbered serially and should appear in the text in order.

PHOTOGRAPHS

  1. Photographs as dealt with as figures, and they should be numbered.
  2. They should be of high quality.
  3. Field photography must contain a scale.

MAPS

Maps and field sketches must include a metric bar scale. Regional maps must include a north arrow and at least 2 latitude and 2 longitude numbers on each of its respective sides; National Grid numbers may also be used. Map keys should be given on the map or figure, not as numbered boxes.

TABLES

  1. References to tables in the text should appear as Table 2.
  2. Each table should have a brief descriptive title set above the body of the table.
  3. Tables should appear in the text in order.

REFERENCES

  1. ‘Personal communications’ should be authorized in writing. Unpublished data should be cited as (unpublished data).
  2. The authors are responsible for the accuracy of references.
  3. An alphabetical list of all literature cited in the text should follow the text, headed by REFERENCES, double spaces, and bold font. Names of the periodicals should be given in full.

CITATIONS

1- Citations in the text should be in the form (Salama et al., 1991; Misfir, 1988), or ``according to Misfir (1988) and Kepper and Astry (1993)'', Papers ``in preparation'' or ``submitted'' or ``under review'' are NOT VALID references. Work in preparation, unpublished abstracts, and personal communications or oral communications may be cited in text, but NOT in the reference list.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

  1. Acknowledgments should follow the main text and beheaded to ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS.
  2. Personal acknowledgments should precede those of institutions or agencies.

APPENDICES

Appendices are encouraged for specific details on methodology, mathematics, or voluminous data.

UNITS, ABBREVIATIONS, ACRONYMS

  1. Units should be metric, generally SI, and expressed in standard abbreviated form.
  2. Acronyms may be acceptable but must be defined at first usage.

MATHEMATICS

  1. The authors must provide instructions on how symbols and equations should be set.
  2. Equations should be numbered sequentially in the right-hand side and in parenthesis. They should be referred to in the text as ‘Equation(4)’.

REPRINTS

  1. Fifteen copies of each published paper will be supplied free of charge to the principal or corresponding author.
  2. All manuscripts become the property of JER and are not returned to authors, even if a manuscript is rejected. Original manuscripts and illustrations are discarded two months after publication unless a prior arrangement is made with the Editor-in-Chief.

ELECTRONIC TEXT

  1. The final version to be submitted in WORD format ONLY.
  2. Text from most word processing systems is acceptable. The Journal, however, encourages the use of Microsoft Office 2007 or the latest version in the WINDOWS format.
  3. Illustrations and tables are accepted in any of the common formats used by popular drawing programs for the PC and MAC environments generated by Adobe photoshop
