A new passive islanding detection technique for different zones in utility grid

Abstract

This paper shows the impact of islanding phenomenon in case of Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Arrays and how to develop some new techniques to detect this phenomenon. A novel algorithm to prevent islanding is presented. It is about monitoring and analyzing the dc-link voltage for Voltage Source Converter. The concept for Anti-Islanding protection methods is performed by having a direct comparison between the islanding detection time calculated by the Rate of Change of Frequency method and the detection time in different cases. MATLAB/ SIMULINK are used for simulation and obtaining the whole results.
