Abstract

The transesterification process has used to produce the Karanja biodiesel using CaO as a heterogeneous catalyst. Here Taguchi method has used for the optimization of the process using five input parameters and five levels for the development of orthogonal arrays.  Experiments have conducted as per orthogonal array and yields obtained have noted. Minitab software has used to analyze these results. The results got by Minitab have compared with results using ANN script by analytically as well as graphically. The maximum value of yield at optimum parametric value namely molar ratio 20:1 with the addition of 3% CaO catalyst at process temperature 65ºC for 60 minutes reaction time and agitation speed 600 rpm has 88%.
